Productivity plays a significant role in your success. That is why people keep searching for productivity tricks, hacks and tips. Unfortunately, the mammoth of productivity myths out there are preventing people from being at their best.
Myth #1- One must be a morning person
It’s common belief that early risers are productive. However, waking up early does not guarantee that one will spend their day wisely. The fact is that some people do well at night. So, you do not have to wake up before dawn to prove a point; know what works for you and stick to it.
Myth #2 – The hours you work determines your productivity
This is another myth that is leading people astray. Simply because you work for ten, twelve or twenty hours, it doesn’t mean that you have made use of all the time. An average employee should work for eight hours only, and that is sufficient to experience productivity. Besides, long working hours have detrimental effects on your health. Make sure that you do your best when working and you will reap the benefits.
Myth #3 – You should keep working until you complete the task
Well, we all start a project with the hope of completing it. However, if time runs out and you are unable to complete the task, stop working and rest first. Identify the right point to stop and switch to another task. For instance, if you have been writing a report since you woke up, take a break by responding to emails.
Myth #4 – Clean = organized = productive
Undoubtedly, cleanliness is essential. However, it does not mean that a cluttered workspace will prevent you from achieving optimum results. With regards to productivity, organization means that you have everything you require close to you. Try keeping your workplace as neat as you can, but do not let the opposite bring you down.
